DALHOUSIE

Established in 1854 by the British Empire is a picturesque hill station in Himachal Pradesh which use to be the summer retreat for its troops and bureaucrats. The place itself was named after Lord Dalhousie who was the British Viceroy in India at that time. It lies at the base of the Dhauladhar mountain range.
 

Dalhousie is a gateway to the Chamba District. Chamba is the hub of Hindu culture, art, temples, and handicrafts preserved under the longest running single dynasty since the mid-6th century. Bharmour, the ancient capital of this kingdom, is home to Gaddi and Gujjar tribes and has 84 ancient temples from 7th-10th century AD.

St. Andrew's Church - Built in the year 1903, St. Andrew's Church is located at a distance of approximately one and half km from the bus stand of Dalhousie.

St. Patrick's Church - St. Patrick's Church built in 1909 is the largest church of Dalhousie. It is situated in Baloon in Dalhousie Cantonment at a distance of 2 km from the bus stand .

St. Francis Church - Situated on the Subhash Chowk, built in 1894 St. Francis Church is one of the prominent monuments of Dalhousie.
 

Satdhara - It is located towards Gandhi Chowk on the way to Panjpulla, at an altitude of 2,036mts. These seven springs are said to have great therapeutic value.

Panchpula- This is a memorial with 5 bridges at a distance of 2 km from Dalhousie.

Alah Water Tank - The main water tank in the area, holding 100,000 gallons

Subhash Baoli - Named after Subhash chandra bose this spring issituated at a height of 6,678 ft in Dalhousie and provides excellent views of snow-capped mountains.
 

Khajiar  - Khajiar is known as the mini Switzerland of India and lies at a distnace of 23 km from Dalhousie and 26 km from Chamba at a height of 6400 ft. It is often reffered to as "Gulmarg of Himachal Pradesh". A little away from the lake is the temple of Khajji Nag belonging to 12th C. AD. Within the temple are life size wooden images of the five Pandav brothers.
 

Kalatop - At a distance of 10 km this wild life sanctuary  is home to the 'ghoral' and Himalayan black bear.  The panoramic views of Pir Panjal Range and countryside are breathtaking from here.

Dainkund Peak - Dainkund peak perched at an altitude of 2755 metre, is the highest mount in Dalhousie.

Killar - Killar is the headquarters of Pangi valley. It’s located in the deep and narrow gorge of Chenab River. Mahlu Nallah is said to be the gateway to this village. The place is blessed with incredible natural beauty. Killar is also the base for trekking expedition to Kishtwar, through Umasi la into the Zanskar Valley, and to Keylong and Manali.
