Shirdi is a small village in Kopargam taluk, in Ahmadnagar District
of the Maharastra State. When Baba was physically present at the age
of 20 in Shirdi, it was a small village of 80 thatched houses with
mud walls. Today it is a big town with palatial modern buildings and
shops.
Thursday is the day Saibaba is specially worshipped. On this day
devotees from all over India visit Shirdi for Darshan of Saibaba.
The Temple opens for devotees at 5.15 a.m. (0515 hrs) with Kakad
Aarti and remains open till the end of Shejarti.
How to reach Shirdi?
Mumbai -
You can reach Shirdi from Bombay in six hours. You can also reach in 4 hours
by skiping kasara ghat and nashik via scenic Ghoti.
Hyderabad - You can
go to Shirdi by a direct bus. It is a 15 Hrs. journey.
Bangalore - The buses runs through Dharmavaram,
Ananthapuram and Dond junction to Kopargam and Manmad. You can get
down in either of the stations and catch a bus to Shirdi from there.

Festivals are great time to visit Shirdi of Saibaba. There are three
major festivals that are held in Shirdi attracting thousands of
devotees from across the world. The three major festivals celebrated
at Shirdi are Ramnavami, Guru Purnima and Shirdi Vijayadashmi.
Ramnavami
Ramanavi is one of the most important festivals celebrated with
great excitement and fanfare. In the year 1897 Goplarao Gund
proposed holding in Urus in name of Saibaba in gratitude of a child
which he was granted after so many childless years. Saibaba conceded
to celebrate his urus on the condition that it be celebrated on
Ramnavami.
Gurupurnima
Gurupurnima or Full Moon is also a wonderful time to visit Shirdi. Guru Purnima was the only
festival which Saibaba has asked his devotees to celebrate. This is
the time devotees all across the world converge in Shirdi to seek
Saibaba's blessings. There is also Vyasa Puja that is held during
Guru Purnima, in honor of Ved Vyasa who wrote the epic Mahabharata.
Shirdi Vijayadashmi
Vijayadashmi is a big festival in Shirdi, venerated as a holy day
when Shri Saibaba left his mortal body for heavenly abode. The
festival is also celebrated as Shri Sai Punyathithi in Shirdi
attracting great number of devotees from all over the world.
